Avoid Server 5.0.3
I’ve emailed less polite feeback to Apple.
The gist of my issues with Server 5.0.3 have to do with Apache web service. It’s really hard to mess up Apache, but Apple has managed to do so.
Apple’s Service Proxy hijacks all port 80 and 443 traffic, making ALL web access logs show ALL web traffic as 127.0.0.1. You can NO LONGER tell who is accessing your website. Additionally, if you use WordPress Jetpack’s Admin ACL (restricting admin access by IP), this now breaks, and you will LOSE ACCESS TO YOUR WORDPRESS ADMIN MODULE.
There’s probably more that’s broken, those are the things I’ve spent my morning fighting after this upgrade.
I have uninstalled Server 5.0.3, and will be building my own server bits to replace it. This is far from the first time I’ve had an issue after a Server.app upgrade, and I know it is far from the last one. This app has gotten worse with each upgrade. It’s a shame, it used to be good.
